Do
I stand a chance at romance?
Dear
Ron,
I
am divorced after 22 years of marriage. I am 47 years old, 6' 2",
100 lbs overweight, honey blonde hair and balding. I have a sleeping
disorder that requires me to wear an air mask. My health is poor.
I have Type 2 diabetes that requires medication. I have panic disorder
that has made me live an isolated/introverted life for the past
eleven years.
I
am trying to get a grip on my life and turn it around. Currently
I am on disability. Before that I was a fun-loving, successful systems
analyst. I was a golf junky. I still am a personal computing junky.
I thought that maybe someone would still be interested in someone
like me. I feel that men and women come in all sizes, shape and
condition. Is there hope for a match for me?
Wondering
Dear
Wondering,
That's
one hell of a resume. Honesty is one quality you forgot to mention.
And
there are surely more attributes that make you a decent, integritable
person attributes that are easy to discount in light of problems
looming larger than your ability to see around them.
You're
asking me if there's hope for a match for you, because "no"
would remove the universal responsibility from your shoulders of
trying to meet someone and risking rejection. Instead of answering,
I'll ask you three questions: Can you laugh? Can you listen? Can
you make somebody feel better than they did before they met you?
If you answered no to all, then relax you don't stand a chance.
